Description

This easy green chile salsa recipe is perfect for when there aren't any fresh tomatoes in the house. It's also tasty made without the green chiles (when all you have are canned tomatoes on hand).

Ingredients

1cn16-oz. tomatoes, drained (and mashed with hands)
1cn4-oz. chopped green chiles
2 onions or scallions, chopped
1clvgarlic, minced
2tchili powder
1⁄4tcumin
1⁄4toregano
1⁄2tsalt

Instructions

Place all ingredients in heavy pot and bring to a simmer; let cook for 10 minutes. Serve warm or chilled with corn chips. The flavor is best after this salsa sets for half an hour.
